Within the context of healthcare, particularly in the interaction between doctors and patients, discrepancies in communication have been identified as a significant element affecting the patient&#8217;s experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/AsiaMDWhatsAppEN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b><i>Follow us on WhatsApp for the latest updates: https:\/\/bit.ly\/AsiaMDWhatsAppEN\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good doctor-patient communication has the potential to improve healthcare outcomes, improve <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/asiamd.bqubetech.com\/patient-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">patient safety<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, reduce patient anxiety and enhanced trust and rapport, amongst other benefits. In this article, we reveal our most recent patient experience survey findings and outline some of the factors for effective doctor-patient communication.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Asia MD\u2019s Patient Experience Survey Findings<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8172 \" src=\"https:\/\/asiamd.bqubetech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/75-of-the-respondents-received-the-medical-answers-from-their-healthcare-provider.png\" alt=\"Healthcare Service Quality_75% of the respondents received the medical answers from their healthcare provider\" width=\"346\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/form.typeform.com\/to\/RPRZb6NC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asia MD\u2019s Patient Experience Survey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> highlights that <\/span><b>75% of respondents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> received the medical answers they needed when they visit a private medical clinic in Singapore. This suggests that healthcare providers in Singapore are generally effective in providing direct medical information to their patients in the clinic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the survey also indirectly highlights the challenges that remain unaddressed. The 25% of respondents who did not get the answers they needed represent a significant minority whose experiences point to potential gaps in the healthcare delivery system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This could stem from a variety of factors including but not limited to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Socio-economic disparities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (for instance, a US study revealed that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6544715\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lower income-earning patients have poorer healthcare experience<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including poor healthcare communication, in all aspects of access and quality of care)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Language barriers between patients and healthcare providers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(for instance, according to the findings of a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pxjournal.org\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=1416&amp;context=journal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">patient experience survey in Hong Kong<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, South Asian patients generally reported more problematic experiences than Chinese patients)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Patient-centered Communication Approach<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The survey&#8217;s finding also opens up a discussion on the importance of effective doctor-patient communication delivery in enhancing patient experiences. Addressing the doctor-patient communication gap is essential in fostering a healthcare environment that prioritises patient-centered care. By taking steps to improve patient communication, healthcare professionals can build patient trust and engagement, ultimately leading to improved health outcomes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, in a digital era riddled with misinformation, more than ever, patients are in search of reliable medical expertise and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/asiamd.bqubetech.com\/2021\/08\/03\/how-harmful-is-fake-medical-news-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trustworthy medical information<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from their healthcare providers.
