A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials found that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crd.york.ac.uk\/crdweb\/ShowRecord.asp?LinkFrom=OAI&amp;ID=12010002123&amp;LinkFrom=OAI&amp;ID=12010002123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">mindfulness-based therapies were effective in reducing symptoms of these mental health disorders.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Pain Management<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Meditation has been shown to be effective in managing pain. Zeidan et al. (2011) conducted a study revealing that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3090218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">meditation, even in brief periods, could reduce the intensity of pain<\/span><\/a> and its unpleasantness. Interestingly, this reduction in pain sensitivity was not due to the placebo effect, but to the meditation itself.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Improved Sleep<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Lastly, meditation has been found to improve sleep quality. A randomised controlled trial by Black et al. (2015) showed that <a href=\"https:\/\/europepmc.org\/article\/MED\/25686304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">mindfulness meditation helped improve sleep quality among older adults<\/span><\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">These research findings underscore the potent role of meditation in promoting wellness. Not only can it reduce stress and enhance cognitive function, but it also has the potential to address a variety of health issues, from cardiovascular disease to pain management.
